Okay so I thought I would mentally “fence” with MRKC Neupert based on his “Not So Quick, HIT-Jedi” remark on page 10…because I thought I knew something, he was game this was post my surviving the “treatment”. Now I will publicly admit there are parts of HIT that I like….like “rest-pause”, the strength building benefits of static holds and controlled negatives. I was all ready, so I thought to lay the deep thought on my teacher so I said “You know when you take those heavy singles and start densifying the time what do you wind up with….”REST PAUSE”.
His informed reply was “what do you have when you densify to no pause…..one continuous set”….which led to the practice directly below, just to see what happens.
48kg 2 arm swings are fulfilling that heavier weight (for me) one continuous set need. 50 reps back in October, now up to 75 and going to 100.
Plenty of reps in that one set to groove form and get some of that 2 Arm Swing conditioning.
Goals – met Press the Beast, TGU the Beast, Goblet Squat the Beast, Snatch the Beast
Double Kettlebells – DSW w 48′s, DCL w 48, DMP w 48
Doubles – more comfortable now with two than one, starting to superset and practice simple complexes w 40′s. That’s some progress that leads in the right direction. Learning from the MRKC that wrote the book and I still gain from rereading it. Kettlebell Muscle – No joke, savage.
DSN w 48′s – still calling me a weak punk, but the ladders I am starting with the 40′s are progressing and this rock too shall be crushed.
Training – Listening very carefully to my body, relentlessly working with a variety of techniques on weaker links, simplifying the program and only using schemes which are straight from “The Books”. So I know those teaching points are as pure as newly fallen snow. If they pass MRKC Neupert’s gaze then I know I’m closing the technique gap. 2 years in the swing and still don’t have it the way I want it, but it is improving.
Waving my loads between moderately heavy to heavy, occasionally I’ll “go the distance” just to satisfy my own paranoia that my conditioning is indeed coming along with the strength.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization – starting back on the weekly treatments and if past results are any indicator, I’ll be glad I did.
Chins – Going to work up to the Vasily Alexeev 2-3 minute time under tension and see if my results differ. Starting at sets of 1 minute.
Practice A – Vasily Alexeev Time Under Tension
Practice B – weighted singles, goal chin 32kg by Dec. 31.
CoC 3.0 Assault – waving the load/volume and visibly moving closer, see the benefits in my kettlebell work…no complaints.
Abs – consistent rotation of exercises and movements (pressing from lunge position to tighten the corset)….looks like it is working, still some dough to go.
Stretching – ordering a library of material, I’m a strong visual learner books, DVD’s. I believe this will make me stronger because I’ll be able to move my body into more optimal positions for my physique to generate power. Note I mention moving better as a precursor to generating more power with cleaner technique which can only add up to more strength. Movement, Kalos Stenos and Dynami have begun to take hold.
Hopefully you can learn from my experiments or see something that resonates with you.
